Story
On May 12, 1874, the Holy Virgin appeared to two shepherds - twelve year old Angela Berruti and thirteen year old Vincent Scossiera. Angela was leading his flock on the hill Prà that her mistress had given him, when, suddenly, turn to the east, saw a lady quite high from the ground and supported by a cloud with the boss beckoned him over.
She stood with a child in her arms, wearing a coffee-colored suit and had her head covered with a veil. The frightened girl ran and told this to her mistress, who derided ther for acting stupid. Vincent, and managed the event, looked up and saw the place as a sheet, lying and hanging from a tree. In the middle there was a lady between two other people. Her hands at her sides, on her head she wore a gold crown and wore a dress of blue and white color. She was bright and staring at the boy, who uttered an exclamation of awe vulgar. Three times he felt after a very loud cry, which startled him and made him run away crying to the house.
Even Olivieri Magdalene, while he was praying in the little wooded valley, saw Our Lady as she had seen Angela. On May 16, while she was praying on the site of the apparition, Teresa Burnengo (36 years) saw Madonna at a short height above the ground, almost in a niche, coffee-colored suit, the Child Jesus on her left arm and the head covered by a veil.
On October 25th, the thirteen year old and her friend Maria Valley Pegollo moved to the place of the apparition, and they saw the Virgin Mary dressed in black. They lowered their eyes and prayed, and after a while and saw the Madonna who wore a blue cape, surrounded by angels, with a shining star that stopped the mantle on his chest and his hands folded on the breast-shaped cross. She had two people on the side. It was benign and friendly and the girls questioned. Mary answered their questions by saying that she was the Immaculate Conception, the two people beside him were the saints Clare and Elizabeth and that the angels had come to see if the two girls as they were innocent. She explained that the star on his chest had put it to him His Son to have it recognized as the "Queen of Heaven and Earth".
After the interview the two girls were invited by the parents of a blind boy and a girl paralyzed in his left arm to present them to Madonna, to heal them. The two visionaries took a hand to each of these hopeless and they started at the apparition. The Pegollo few paces, he stopped and let the Valley alone to accompany the young Mary, who reappeared on the door of a large chapel, all decorated in white.
The young man asked for pardon for the two and said that Madonna for the blind, before thinking of his sight, that it was necessary to receive Holy Communion and learnwell the truth of the faith for the girl, however, said that by coming to that place her hand would heal. Other people asked then ask Our Lady to the visionary where she wanted the church to built , she replied that she wanted in that place.
The chapel was built, despite the opposition of the authorities of Feglino.

DA PIÙ DI CENTO ANNI, SULLA COLLINA DI PRÀ, A POCA DISTANZA DAL PAESE, SI VENERA MARIA AUSILIATRICE. OGGI LA FACCIATA DELLA CHIESA, CON LE GUGLIE NEOGOTICHE, È SOTTOPOSTA A RESTAURO.
“Correva l’anno 1874 ed era il giorno dodici del bel mese di maggio”. Così comincia il racconto dell’apparizione a Feglino, nell’opuscolo curato dall’arciprete Antonio Zunino nel 1928. Qui nell’entroterra di Finalborgo, si trova il Santuario di Maria Ausiliatrice. Sorge sulla collina di Prà, a poca distanza dal paese.
Quel lontano giorno, una bambina di dodici anni, Angela Berruti, di Mallare, conduceva le pecore di Maria Scosceria, al pascolo. Ad un tratto, secondo quanto dichiarò la stessa Angela, vide a pochi passi, in un piano con alberi di castagno, una Signora. Stava sollevata da terra, sopra una nube ed aveva un bambino in braccio. Il vestito color caffè, il capo ricoperto da un velo, le fece cenno di avvicinarsi. La bambina la osservava e la contemplava. Impaurita e sorpresa, corse dalla Scosceria e la invitò ad andare con lei in quel luogo, per rivedere la Madonna. Giunsero nel bosco di castagni e furono raggiunti anche dal fratello di Maria Scosceria, Vincenzo.
Costui, ragazzo di tredici anni, raccontò nella sua deposizione giurata di aver visto una Signora che: “Teneva ambedue le mani pendenti, aveva in capo una corona d’oro ed era vestita di colore turchino e bianco. Risplendeva più che il sole, ed aveva gli occhi a me rivolti tanto che io intimorito a tale vista, e per attestare più fortemente la verità della visione, pronunciai una parola sconveniente assai, e troppo volgare. E detta appena quella brutta parola, sentii, tre volte, un grido sì forte per cui spaventato e piangendo, in tutta fretta corsi a casa mia. E per tutti questi meravigliosi fatti, non ebbi più quiete, né nella notte, né il domani”.
La notizia si diffuse in tutto il paese. Molti si incamminarono sulla collina di Prà. Accorsero da Carbuta, da Orco, da Calice, da Vezzi. Ben presto intervenne il vescovo di Savona e Noli, Gio Batta Cerruti e richiese all’arciprete di Feglino, don Garbarino, una dettagliata relazione. Arrivarono anche i carabinieri sul colle di Prà.
Il 10 giugno 1874, distrussero l’improvvisata cappella, sequestrarono tutti gli oggetti che la pietà popolare vi aveva depositato intimando che nessuno si recasse più in quel luogo. Ma la devozione riprese, incurante delle minacce della forza pubblica. Il Magistrato ed il Procuratore del re istituirono un vero e proprio Tribunale, con sede a Feglino. La faccenda fu analizzata e molte persone interrogate. Si diffusero notizie di miracolose guarigioni. Con il crescere della devozione e dei pellegrini, nei feglinesi nacque il desiderio di costruire un santuario. Sorse un Comitato che chiese al vescovo l’autorizzazione. Tutti gli abitanti collaborarono, offrendo lavoro e denaro. Gli emigrati che erano partiti dal piccolo paese per l’America, inviarono le loro offerte. L’opera proseguì velocemente tanto che il 12 maggio 1877, tre anni dopo l’apparizione il santuario fu inaugurato.
Nel maggio del 1924, si svolsero le solenni celebrazioni per il Cinquantenario. Ad esse aderirono spiritualmente il vescovo di Savona Giuseppe Salvatore Scatti ed il cardinale di Firenze, Alfonso Maria Mistrangelo, che inviò una lettera. Nel maggio 1974, dopo un triduo solenne fu commemorato il centenario, al quale partecipò il vescovo Parodi.
Su “Il Letimbro” dell’epoca si scrisse: “I fedeli potranno lucrare, durante la giornata, l’indulgenza dell’Anno Santo”. La veggente, Angela Berruti, fu condotta dal parroco don Garbarino, a Savona e affidata alla santa Rossello. Divenne suora con il nome di Fiorentina. Nel 1890 era a Moconesi, nei pressi di Chiavari, con le mansioni di cuciniera. Fu poi superiora a Spigno.
Morì a Ruta di Camogli il 27 dicembre del 1943. Oggi chi passa da quelle parti, può vedere la facciata del bel santuario, progettata dall’architetto Cassinis di Savona, in fase di restauro.
